Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue worked with its partner from South Whidbey today to extinguish a residential fire on Honeymoon Bay,
The fire began around 9:30 a.m. and is believed to have started in the chimney and spread to the attic. Fire progressed through the home and engine companies from Greenbank and Coupeville, along with engines from South Whidbey Fire/EMS, worked together for about five hours to extinguish the blaze.
The homeowners escaped without injury, but sadly one of the residents’ cats remains unaccounted for. The building also sustained heavy fire and water damage. A GoFundMe account was set up to assist the family: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ep7sp2-house-fire
In total, nine fire vehicles responded to the incident.
