There was one gas station in cities across Island County selling midgrade gas at the lowest price of $4.79 per gallon in the week ending Aug. 5, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average cost of midgrade gas in cities within Island County was $4.88 per gallon.

There are 18 gas stations in cities within Island County.

The average price of midgrade gas in Washington was $5.09, compared to $5.16 the week before.

The U.S. government missed the mark when forecasting gas prices for 2022. A short-term outlook published early in 2022 claimed gas rates would fall, when in fact gas rates rose significantly.

The outlook once again suggested that prices would fall in 2023.

Gas data refers to the price of gas when paid for by cash, not credit. Gas stations can charge drivers more for using credit cards due to surcharge fees. This is prohibited in 10 U.S. states.
