Any hopes of moving forward in the state of Washington’s reopening plans have been put on hold for the foreseeable future as San Juan county’s application and others throughout the state have been returned.
A surge in positive COVID-19 tests resulted in Gov. Jay Inslee declaring a moratorium on advancement at the beginning of July.
On July 20, Secretary of Health John Wiesman announced the state is returning all Safe Start applications to the counties whose applications were put on hold. San Juan County was applying for Phase 3, The Islands Weekly reported. In all seven applications have been returned. The pause on applications is expected to last until the end of the month after it was extended on July 14 by the governor and secretary.
Given the expiration of time since the application was turned in, four weeks, San Juan County will be forced to renew the applications as much of the information will be outdated The Islands Weekly reported.
