Everett Community College issued the following announcement.
Everett Community College has hired Phyllis Esposito to serve as Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Esposito, Ph.D., has 20 years of experience in public education as a public-school educator, school administrator, professional development leader, strategic planning consultant and curriculum developer. Her primary focus is on equity-minded leadership development and strategic planning, working with colleges to improve systems for creating equitable and inclusive institutions.
She started at EvCC Aug. 1, where she leads the college’s Equity and Social Justice division.
“Dr. Esposito will play a key role in promoting an inclusive, equitable and safe college climate where historically underserved and underrepresented communities experience equitable aspiration, access, achievement, engagement and economic progress,” said EvCC President Daria Willis.
Esposito previously served as Director of the Center for Multicultural Education and the interim dean of the School of Integrative Studies at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin.
She has roots in the Pacific Northwest, working as a member of the faculty at Evergreen State College in Olympia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Rockhurst College and a (MiHE) Masters in Humanities and Education from Rockhurst University and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Sociocultural Foundations of Education from the University of Kansas.
