Washington State University's (WSU) San Juan County Extension Office is offering home horticulture training through its Home Horticulture Training program, according to the Islands' Weekly.
The program costs $300 and requires both a computer and internet access, as well as an e-mail account and a Zoom account.
The training will focus on various horticulture topics and will run from Jan. 9 until April 24 from 9 a.m. until noon every Saturday. It will be taught by Master Gardners and faculty and staff from the university, as well as other regional experts, the news media reported. There will also be homework during the training.
The news media reports that those who attend the course can earn a certificate of completion. They will have to participate in weekly online quizzes, take a final, attend the bulk of the classes. The homework will be an average of three to five hours each week and the training is always open book. There is no memorization that is needed.
Those who participate in the program will also have access to WSU Extension's online Master Gardener Training Modules, as well as the Master Gardner Manual, which the news media says is extensive.
