Additional financial support will soon be available for Washington businesses and families struggling as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) announced an increased total tor the economic support help after "more discussions with legislators and our agencies." The total dollar amount for the economic support help was raised from $50 million to $135 million. It includes $70 million in business support grants, $30 million for the recovery loan program, $20 million for help with rent, and $15 for low-income households who need help paying for energy bills.
$50 million of business support grants was set aside for another round of Working Washington grants which aims to help industries that have been hit hardest by the pandemic.
"This is a significant relief effort," Inslee said in a release posted on the governor's website, "I can't say it's going to help everyone, but I can say we are not done yet collaborating with our partners to find more funds."
