COLUMBIA COLLEGE - WHIDBEY ISLAND: Alumnus Hawkins' Work Inspires Gratitude in Pandemic

Foster

Columbia College - Whidbey Island issued the following announcement.

The fine-art photography of 1987 Columbia College alumnus Notley Hawkins (@notleyhawkins) evokes gratitude in any year. His lens captures the wide-open spaces and wild soul of the Midwest — as well as its sculpted architecture.

In 2020, Hawkins’ work assumes yet another dimension, ushering viewers from the year’s cloistered reality into somewhere more open, somewhere with possibility.

The year developed for Hawkins as it did for most people — with a mixture of highs and lows. Or, in his case, day trips and down time.

The Columbia photographer’s website houses nine different portfolios; assignments which typically involve other people, including events and weddings, considerably slowed down. Hawkins typically documents the Roots N Blues and Pedaler’s Jamboree festivals, both of which were sidelined due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
