Fish Molee
Fish Molee is a fish and coconut dish with roots in Portugal and India. It is a common dish in India, Malaysia and Singapore. It is very similar to Kerala Chicken stew recipe and is served with rice or soft bread.
Ingredients
For the marinade:
½ kg fish fillets*see note below
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp black pepper
Salt (to taste)
For the fish molee:
½ inch sized ginger piece (finely minced)
2 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
1 medium yellow or white onion (sliced)
3-4 serrano peppers (slit lengthwise)
1 tsp pepper
1 can coconut milk (full fat)
2 sprigs curry leaves
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 roma tomato sliced into thin rounds
Salt (to taste)
3-4 tablespoons coconut oil
Notes:
Fish like Tilapia, pompano, snapper, salmon, king fish, pomfret, red snapper, or cod can be used. I normally use cod.
Serve the dish with rice or bread.
