Asphalt paving was delayed this week due to weather concerns. The Contractor & Project Engineers determined that this week’s temperatures and general forecast for spotty showers were not ideal paving conditions.
Paving has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 17th with Wednesday, May 18th & Thursday, May 19th scheduled as alternate dates.
Ideally, pavement is installed when both ground and air temperatures are anywhere between 50 and 90 degrees. In our case, anything below 50 can cause defective quality that will have issues down the road. It is just as important that there is no rain on the day of paving or for a reasonable amount of time afterward to allow the oily materials to cure properly.
