Monkeypox is a rare viral disease causing a rash and often flu-like symptoms. Infection can spread from animals to humans and then from one person to another. A small number of cases have been detected in King County.
To help prevent the spread of the virus, it's important to be aware of signs and symptoms including new, unexplained rashes, and to seek medical evaluation as soon as possible if you develop symptoms.
