Notice: Temporary Closure of Playground at Shane Park

Due to a safety issue, the City of Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department will close the playground at Shane Park starting Wednesday, September 14, 2022, until further

notice.  The other amenities at Shane Park will remain open to the public.

The safety issue involves the playground's rubber tiles, which are shrinking and being pulled up, creating gaps. These gaps have the potential to cause injury if a child steps in

between the gaps, or falls from a critical height.

Staff are working with a playground company to resolve the issue and safely reopen the playground as quickly as possible. This playground is a huge asset to the community due to

its location on the west side of Port Angeles. During this temporary closure, we encourage folks located on the west side of town to instead visit the playgrounds located at Crown

Park or Elks Playfield.

We will notify the public of any updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience during this time.
